wholesome, natural ingredients

This page lists some of the wonderful features and benefits of quality ingredients used in Mumbiessence skin care products.

Shea Shea Butter: Shea butter comes from the fruit of a tree grown in tropical Africa, and has been the healing ingredient of top market healing creams for many years. Shea butter imparts wonderful skin softening and healing qualities, and may help to reduce wrinkles.

Mango Mango Butter: Extracted from seeds of the mango fruit, and very similar to shea butter in make-up and properties. Widely used in cosmetics to give tone and suppleness to damaged and aged skin, it may also help to reduce wrinkles.

Jojoba Jojoba Oil: A liquid wax rather than an oil, it is extracted from the seeds of plants grown in desert regions. Its structure is very similar to that of human skin's sebum. It is said to rejuvenate the skin and protect it from external elements. Widely used to repair damaged skin and reduce wrinkles. Very penetrating, and suitable for all skin types.

Rose Rosehip Oil: Comes from seeds contained in the fruit of the rose. One of the rarest and most precious skin oils, it is particularly valued for its restorative properties and its ability to reduce wrinkles and ageing marks. Very nourishing for mature skin, and reduces scarring and stretch marks.

Aloe Vera Aloe Vera: Has a powerful soothing, calming effect on the skin. It is an excellent moisturiser due to its ability to penetrate to the skin's deeper layers and carry with it synergistic nutrients.

Avocado Avocado Oil: This is another wonderfully penetrating ingredient, which can carry with it other nutrients into the skin. It has a protective effect on the skin and is rich in lecithin and fat soluble vitamins. Avocado oil is ideal for drier skin.

Oats Oats: Oats are remarkably softening and moisturising to the skin, as well as being anti-inflammatory, healing, and very cleansing. As they are high in silica, they are great for skin, nails and hair (you will notice that oats are used in many of our soaps). Professionals have long referred to oats as "the healing grain", and recommend them for irritated and sensitive skin.

Essential Oils Commonly associated with aromatherapy, essential oils have many benefits for the skin and are readily absorbed. Studies have shown that lavender oil can be detected in the blood stream as little as ten minutes after application. Essential oils have the ability to penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin, as well as providing many benefits for the top layer. Two commonly used essential oils are:

Lavender Lavender: One of the most versatile therapeutic essential oils. It has a very relaxing effect on the nervous system and is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Lavender oil is a wonderful addition to any skin care preparation, being soothing and calming.

Geranium Geranium: Has a balancing effect on the skin. It is useful for all skin conditions, as it helps to control sebum and keeps the skin soft and supple. Geranium oil is potentially advantageous for congested, combination and oily skin types.

There are, of course, many therapeutic benefits of numerous other essential oils and natural ingredients contained in Mumbiessence skin care products, but you can rest assured that unless you have a specific allergy to any ingredient, they are all nourishing and beneficial.

As our skin care products are produced with the minimum amount of preservative, please use within 6-8 months of purchase. Soap will of course last much longer, but may lose its original intensity of perfume, and sometimes, colour.

Although every effort has been made to ensure that you are sold a beneficial product, every individual reacts differently to any skin application and anyone can be allergic to anything, natural or otherwise. If you have any adverse reactions or discomfort from using our products, please discontinue use and seek medical advice.
